Moving Design

The Moving Bits

SOFT SPOT
Having grown up in Asia immersed in Japanese manga and a devoted fan of Pixar and Ghibli studios, I've always had a soft spot for motion design, even if it's just a tiny part of my design journey.

PROCESS
Motion design is all about giving visuals a lively twist. Here's my take on it:

  1. Spark the Idea: First things first, I figure out what the project needs and who it's meant for. What's the story we're telling? Then, I sketch out a basic plan for how everything will flow.
  2. Craft the Visuals: Next, I dive into creating visuals, backgrounds, and all the cool stuff that's going to be in motion. This is where my creativity really kicks in.
  3. Bring it to Life: Now comes the fun part - I use After Effect to make everything groove, bounce, and pop. It's like being a puppet master, but with pixels!
  4. Time it Right: Timing is key. I make sure each movement hits the right beat to keep things smooth and captivating.
  5. Music to My Ears: Sound effects and music really spice things up. I mix and match audio to match the visuals and create an awesome vibe.
  6. Refine and Polish: I watch the animation a few of times, making tweaks to make it just right. It's like giving it that final shine.
  7. Get Some Feedback: I show my work to others and gather their thoughts. Collaboration helps make sure the animation hits all the right spots.
  8. Iterate and Perfect: With the feedback, I dive back in for another round of fine-tuning until everything's looking good.

It's like a mix of creative flair, tech smarts, and a dash of magic that turns still images into something lively and full of personality.
